LED Lighting
LED Lighting - Changing the way the world is lit, one LED at a time!
LED, short for light-emitting diode is on it's way to replace incandescent lighting as soon as 2012.
LED lighting has proved to be an efficient way of lighting anything from your Christmas tree to the overhead street lamps, street lights (cobra heads) & traffic lights that we see everyday on our roads & freeways.
Their have been reports that on average it costs about $9/month to operate your normal christmas tree lights, but if you were to switch over to LED lights, it would only cost $0.09/month. And those LED lights last up to 50,000 hours!
The cost of LED lighting at this time is currently more than an incandescent bulb, but it cost more for so many reasons.
- Longer Lasting
- Consumes Less Energy
- Environmentally Friendly - Green
- Durable
- Cool (LED lights give off less heat than other traditional lighting methods)
- Remote Area Lighting (Solar Powered LED lights)
LEDs are available in a variety of colors
- Amber
- Red
- White
- Blue
- Green
The United States is not the only country that is pursuing LEDs as an alternate form of lighting. Japan's future economic success heavily relies on how well the new LED technology is accepted. Japan has had shopping centers, christmas trees, and everything else around glowing with LED lights even though they don't celebrate.
